Young Sire Proving Program (PEP)

Tomorrow Today!

The purpose of PEP (Young Sire Proving Program) is to ensure a renewed source of superior quality proven sires in order to maintain Québec breeding at the forefront of the international scene.

To take advantage of an efficient testing program and ensure your continued successful breeding, the following conditions must be met:

Sires awaiting proof

A list of young sires tested by The Alliance Semex partners is availble here.

Have at least 80% of first-lactation females registered with a breed association.

Register your heifers within three months of their birth.

Have your lactometers inspected and use an approved brand. The inspection is done annually by Valacta and fees are at breeder’s expense.

Agree to give us access to your Valacta data by signing a “Consent to Use and Transfer Data”.

Supply tests with components from a milk-recording option recognized for the calculation of genetic evaluations and supply all information related to data on functional traits (milking speed, milking temperament and calving ease). The interval between two tests must not exceed 60 days.

Your herd must have a number of young sire daughters which corresponds to your use of PEP young sires.
