Register your heifers within three months of their birth.
Have your lactometers inspected and use an approved brand. The inspection is done annually by Valacta and fees are at breeder’s expense.
Agree to give us access to your Valacta data by signing a “Consent to Use and Transfer Data”.
Supply tests with components from a milk-recording option recognized for the calculation of genetic evaluations and supply all information related to data on functional traits (milking speed, milking temperament and calving ease). The interval between two tests must not exceed 60 days.
Your herd must have a number of young sire daughters which corresponds to your use of PEP young sires.
Number of PEP doses used per year.
Qualification period: one year from October 1st to September 30th.
The number of PEP doses used in one given year will be used to establish the discount rate on the price of proven sire semen in the PARTICIPATION component of the following year.
New Candidate
To benefit from a discount on the price of proven sire semen: use PEP doses on at least 50% of the cows in your herd.
Cooperator
Using PEP doses on 50% of your cows, or more, will enable you to meet the objectives of the genetic improvement strategy.
However, to be entitled to the discount related to the PEP contribution, you must use a minimum of 20% of PEP doses on your cows.
New Candidate
CIAQ recommends that you prioritize raising all your young sire daughters. Your contribution is calculated as soon as you have classified and milk recorded daughters in your herd after which you will be given the most profitable discount.
Cooperator
The number of classified young sire daughters over a mobile period of three years is used to establish the discount rate related to your contribution. For example, October 1st, 2005, to September 30, 2008, was the period used to establish the 2009 discount.
