Once is nice, but five times is better!
For the 5th straight proof round, Hartline Titanic remains Canada's leading sire at +2475 LPI. His impressive indexes for feet & legs and mammary system again position him as a leader for this combination. Production and udder health, as well as exceptional development from the first to second lactation are the key points to the great quality of this sire.
Durham's best sons in Canada are at CIAQ. Newly proven and 2nd on the LPI list, Regancrest-LH Modest, (Durham x Aerostar) is a son of the full sister to Meadow Bridge Megabuck. The combination of his pedigree and interesting numbers, +15 type, +14 mammary system and more than 2000 kg of milk, is part of his superior appeal. His daughters display dairy strength and excellent mammary systems, adequate heels but, according to the Westgen area representatives, should be watched for pin setting. Ranking 3rd, Mainstream Magical (Durham x Nick), added some daughters and maintained his LPI since the August proofs. His strengths for feet & legs as well as udder texture, strong ligaments and superior production are among his attractive qualities. Magical is also our top sire for maternal calving ease and calving ease. The sire everyone was expecting, Mr Chestnut-Hyll Jackman (Durham x Rudolph), makes his debuts in 6th LPI position with a very balanced proof. This sire's daughters are dairy, with exceptional bone quality and very well defined udder ligaments. Jackman traces back to the same family that brought Caernarvon Jogger at the beginning of the 90s.

Two sires make their debuts at the right time, Brigeen Givenchy (Storm x Mandel) and Deslacs Milkstar (Lee x Lindy) who improve the fat/protein ratios that are sought-after within the industry.
Givenchy is one of the two sires in the proof sheet, Amo being the other, who reach more than 2500 kg of milk and improve the level of somatic cells. Very dairy cows with solid mammary systems are his trademarks. Milkstar, the full brother to Deslacs Lee Richy who, in 2002, was the Intermediate Champion at the Holstein Québec Spring Show, shows very high type indexes and very interesting milk components. He is strong for auxiliary traits, including somatic cells, persistency and herd life.
+20 Type - 99 % Reliability!
Worth noting is the strength of CIAQ sires for type, feet & legs and mammary system. A new level is reached in the Holstein breed with +20 for type by Canyon-Breeze Allen who, with the addition of 600 scored daughters, has a 99 % reliability. Allen dominates for frame and capacity, high and strong mammary systems and he can be used in confidence with all Aerostar and Starbuck bloodlines.

Feet & legs are key assets to CIAQ's proof sheet including 11 sires at +10 and better; Titanic, Jackman and Stormatic all being at +14. To improve mammary systems, you can rely on one of the 20 sires at more than +10 including Talent, Morty and Titanic at +18 and +17 respectively.
Genetic trends
In February 2005, a new LPI will include higher weights for fat and milk components to reflect market trends as well as for daughter fertility. The sires who could benefit the most from those changes and who meet the market demands are none other than Maco Scotty and Canyon-Breeze Allen. Thanks to their fat/protein profile, their high milk components and their higher than average daughter fertility index, they are well positioned for the future. Other potentially popular sires include Freelance, Manager, Milkstar and September for interesting F/P ratios and milk components as well Stormatic, Income, Rudolph and Jebadiah for daughter fertility.
Also, two of those sires, Stormatic and Manager, are a terrific pair offered at a special price, a timely promotion to answer your needs.
